Construction space, as confined as it is, is a major constraint in the management of construction processes. Furthermore, the existing scheduling techniques such as Network, Bar chart and LOB have limits in considering these space constraints, and moreover, the researches that attempted to integrate the theoretical scheduling technique and phenomenal actual field condition are inadequate for considering work space. Especially, in theoretical scheduling technique, the attempts to integrate the sequence and layout of space are insufficient. Therefore, in this research, we first conducted field surveys. This survey is expected to show the activities that face such space problems frequently. After the survey was completed, the result was quantified and we were able to determine the major management activities, core management activities, and the constraints that exist in these activities. As a result, we developed a process model which considers actual field conditions, the sequence of space and layout of space all at once for the inside of a building. The suggested process model consists of horizon planning process and vertical planning process. The case study of the process is verified as useful to consider work space constraints and reduce the construction duration. With further research on the constraints of core management activities and further improvement of the suggested process, we expect that this research outcome can be used for developing construction space planning methodology for considering vertical and horizon working space.
